Online portal http://www.hobnox.com has won the 2009 World Summit Award Germany in the E-Entertainment & Games category, qualifying as Germany’s representative for the international World Summit Award 2009, to be presented in Mexico in June.
WSA Germany is the official national selection for the World Summit Award, the global competition and initiative honouring and presenting the world’s best e-content and e-services. Its worldwide presence and open access make it one of the most significant international awards of its kind. Supported by UN organisations UNESCO and UNIDO, it is held every two years and presents awards in eight categories. MIT Media Lab founder Professor Nicholas Negroponte described WSA as “the Nobel Prize of Multimedia.”
The jury said: “Hobnox.com is a stage for all musicians and filmmakers. […] It was chosen because it is both a platform and a toolbox, which helps bring creative talents to introduce their work and express themselves.”
Hobnox.com co-founder Alexander Gorny said: “The award is further evidence that Hobnox.com’s combination of quality-oriented WebTV, extensive community functions and browser-based applications for producing and publishing music and video meets the high demands of music, film and cultural creators for innovative presentation and of audiences for high-quality entertainment in 2009.”
