Until now, existing multigrid methods for cloth simulation have been based on geometric multigrid. The team working on the new cloth-simulation method includes Rasmus Tamstorf and Toby Jones (of Walt Disney Animation Studios) and Stephen F. McCormick (of the University of Colorado). The method is intended to provide a 68-fold speedup for a fully clothed 3D character with 371 vertices.
