The work was directed by Gabriel Osorio. In “Bear Story”, he addresses the imprisonment of his grandfather, Leopoldo Osorio, during Pinochet’s dictatorship in Chile. After two years in prison, he fled to England, where he had to live in exile away from his family. “Bear Story” premiered at the Annecy Animation Festival in 2014, after which the film received another 50 awards at international festivals and finally the Oscar on Sunday.
