According to its own figures, the pay-TV broadcaster had exactly 3,409,513 customers as of September 30, 2005. In the 3rd quarter, the number of subscribers rose by 96,373; overall, Premiere recorded an increase of 162,341 subscribers in the first nine months of the 2005 fiscal year.
The pay-TV provider thus grew significantly more strongly than in the first nine months of 2004 (102,514). In a year-on-year comparison (30.09.2004: 3,010,405), the subscriber base rose by 399,108 – this corresponds to an increase of 13.3 percent. In view of the positive development in the 3rd quarter, Premiere is maintaining its annual forecast of 3.55 to 3.60 million subscribers.
Premiere chairman Georg Kofler regards the continuing rise in subscriber numbers in the 3rd quarter as evidence of the healthy development of the core business: “The positive trend for subscription television in Germany is continuing – despite a rather difficult economic environment.”
After exceeding the 3.4 million mark among
subscriber households, Premiere is reaching more than ten
million TV viewers for the first time. 9.6 million viewers can watch Premiere in
private TV households. In addition, around 500,000
people regularly experience the Premiere program in more than 13,500 Premiere
sports bars, over 1,500 hotels and 110 clinics.
