Mainconcept has presented a new version of the H.264 Encoder v2. It now supports Intel’s dual-core technology (DC) for the new Pentium D processor and the Pentium Extreme Edition CPU. With the processing of up to four threads, the DC architecture and Mainconcept’s encoder optimizations enable video encoding that is approximately 25 percent faster, Mainconcept promises, referring to internal tests.
The version of Mainconcept’s standalone H.264 Encoder v2 available today already supports DC and hyperthreading technology and is available as a free demo version for download from the company website. Adaptation to DC technology is also supported in the current SDK, which is available now to all Mainconcept H.264 licensees.
