Softimage’s new version of the modeling, rendering and character-animation software XSI is available for download. Interested parties can now download XSI 6 from the Softimage website.
Among other things, the new edition is intended to make working with 3D characters and motion-capture data easier in order to accelerate the animation process, to be easier to integrate into existing pipelines, and to simplify collaboration among artists (see report from 16.11.2006). A test of XSI 6 will appear in DP 02:07.
As known from the previous versions, Softimage offers the software in three configurations: “Foundation” for 495 US dollars, “Essentials” for 1,995 US dollars and “Advanced” for 6,995 US dollars.
