Besner, who previously held responsibility as Vice President of Business Development at Alias and before that for twelve years as CEO at Kaydara, competently faced and answered the many questions from the audience. In response to the theme question of what the future of 3D could be, he explained two approaches that Autodesk is currently pursuing. On the one hand, it wanted to continually improve existing product lines in order to increase workflow efficiency. The other track dealt with the idea of developing simplified versions of the complicated 3D software in order to reach more 3D-affine non-professionial users. This would only become relevant in 3 to 5 years, when the market is ready for it. Read more information, on the merger of Alias and Autodesk, on the market in China etc. in the next issue of DP. A recording of the event is likewise in production and will appear on the issue DVD.
