EVENTYRET OM DEN VIDUNDERLIGE MUSIK (THE STRANGE WORLD OF MUSIC); Denmark 1991; R: Anders Sörensen – M: Anders Koppel – Animation: Liller Möller – 22 min, OV (without dialogue) – A composer (a dog) is commissioned by his merciless manager (a pig) to deliver a composition shortly. Only the artist is currently suffering from writer’s block. Then a muse appears to him in a miraculous way and leads him as if sleepwalking through the centuries of music. In fast motion, we learn how history has influenced music and art at all times. And vice versa!

MÖD MIG PA CASSIOPEIA (MEET ME ON CASSIOPEIA); K: Poul Pedersen, Jørgen Skov; M: Kai Normann Andersen; D: Bodil Kjer, Lily Broberg, Hans Kurt, Poul Reichhardt, Ellen Gottschalch, 106 min, OmeU; With this colorful musical film, the Danish production company Nordisk Film attempted to follow the American musical models of the thirties and forties; and in 1951 produced a classic of Danish film: Composer John Berger lacks the inspiration to finish writing his latest operetta. In addition, his wife, the singer Irene, is flirting strikingly vigorously with a young soldier.

The music muse Polyhymnia finally takes pity on John and descends from Olympus to assist him by singing and dancing.

In Danish film history, MEET ME ON CASSIOPEIA is regarded as one of the best and most successful entertainment films. This was due not only to the sing-ing numbers that passed into the general repertoire of songs, but also to the charisma of lead actress Bodil Kjer. Perhaps Denmark’s most popular female cinema star was at the height of his fame in the early fifties. (Nordic Film Days Lübeck). Tickets can be reserved at Tel. 089/233 24150.
