Once a year, the company, which specialises in lighting software and hardware for architectural lighting, prints an 800-page product catalogue.
Around 4,000 lighting systems are presented in it with product photographs, master drawings, application images and descriptions – all in ten languages and in the light factory’s corporate design.
Thanks to Pixelboxx, all content can now be managed centrally and stored so that the automatic catalogue publishing system from QuinScape used by ERCO, ERCOTex, can immediately access the required image and text material. All processes involved in producing the catalogue can thus be optimised. Thanks to its high interoperability and flexibility and numerous specialised functions, Pixelboxx makes it possible to simplify administrative and logistical processes
Christoph Steinke, Project Manager at ERCO: “Our catalogue production for the roughly 4,000 items relevant to publication is fully automated. For this we use a publication database, a publishing system for catalogue production and, with Pixelboxx, finally also a highly available media asset management solution that automatically supplies the right photographs, drawings and texts for the catalogue, our data sheets and many electronic media.”
In a fully automated process such as catalogue production, it is essential that all data is optimally available. Pixelboxx plays a central role here. Image and text data (photographs, dimensional drawings, graphics, texts) are imported into Pixelboxx as production-quality data, held centrally and automatically scaled to suit the medium for output with ERCOTex.
This means that every image is available at the optimum resolution for the output medium, in the correct format, with the right colour spaces and clipping paths. Pixelboxx supports the entire “catalogue creation” workflow. In particular, the entire preparation period is controlled and simplified through the creation and population of folders in Pixelboxx.
The structure of the product range is represented in Pixelboxx as a folder structure. Pixelboxx now retrieves and processes information from both the publication database and SAP.
The complex data sets are thus always updated automatically. For ERCO, this means lasting reductions in time and costs and maximum quality throughout the production process.
