RV from Tweak Software is a playback tool that, among other things, allows a team to collaborate and conversion jobs to be realised. The RV Media Player, which made it onto the Consideration List for a Sci-Tech award this year, has currently been released in version 4.0. The RV Player is based on RVX core technology, a new GPU-based image-processing architecture that offers fast IO and colour management and can work independently of image resolutions.

You can find an overview of the new features of RV 4.0 here.

Autodesk and Tweak

Autodesk’s acquisition of Tweak Software was first announced on the Autodesk blog. So was the news that the entire Tweak team would be incorporated into the Shotgun team as a unit. Tweak Software reports on its own website that, following years of cooperation with Shotgun, it has now taken the opportunity to combine the two technologies. In this way, Autodesk and Tweak aim to provide an improved type of production tool for the ever-increasing demands on VFX and animation workflows. Seth Rosenthal and Alan Trombla will continue to lead Tweak, in cooperation with Shotgun’s Don Parker.
