The ifs internationale filmschule köln launched its new master’s programme in Film with the 2021 winter semester.
Ten student filmmakers from countries including Germany, Croatia and Colombia began developing interdisciplinary projects. Their backgrounds included screenwriting, directing, production, cinematography, acting and journalism.
Programme leadership
The programme was led by filmmaker Ciro Cappellari. His cited work included Sin Querer — Time of the Flamingos, which received the Sundance Cinema 100 Award for best screenplay, and Abdullah Ibrahim — A Struggle for Love, which won an Adolf Grimme Award.
Cappellari was also a member of the European Film Academy and brought two decades of teaching experience, most recently as a professor at the California Institute of the Arts.
