In nuce: Enscape and Chaos are merging. This was announced by German technology investor LEA Partners and TA Associates, a private equity firm. The newly merged company will retain the Chaos name. V-Ray and Corona will also continue to be offered under their respective names. LEA Partners and TA Associates also announced that they had set themselves the goal of further developing their product portfolio in order to build an end-to-end visualisation ecosystem.
What will result from the merger? According to the press release, the aim is to create a company in the fields of 3D visualisation and design workflow software – with a focus on the AEC, visual effects (VFX) and product design sectors.

The personnel: Peter Mitev, CEO and co-founder of Chaos, and Christian Lang, CEO of Enscape, will share the title of co-CEO for the new company. Vladimir Koylazov, co-founder of Chaos and current Head of Software Development, will continue to be responsible for research and development as well as innovation.
Represented worldwide: In total, the newly formed group comprises more than 500 employees worldwide, with headquarters in Karlsruhe (Germany) and additional offices in Sofia (Bulgaria), Prague (Czech Republic), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (Korea), Los Angeles (USA) and New York (USA).
Completion of the merger: The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

What is Enscape? Enscape is a developer of real-time rendering and design workflow technology for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Anyone who works with CAD software will be familiar with Enscape.
What is Chaos? It’s an old familiar name to DP readers, of course, as Chaos is a major photorealistic rendering technology company. The company offers the rendering solution V-Ray. In addition to V-Ray, Chaos offers interconnected tools including Phoenix, Cosmos, Vantage, Scans and Cloud, as well as the Corona Renderer.
