In brief: BiteTheBytes released World Creator 3, its real-time landscape generator. World Creator 2 had launched in 2017 and the original version in 2011.

Version 3 changes: The new release removed all Unity dependencies, replacing the platform used by World Creator 2. It also revised workflows, tools and features. Not every version 2 function had migrated at launch, so BiteTheBytes kept World Creator 2 available for users who still required them.

The company website stated that more than 15,000 customers used World Creator, including Ubisoft, THQ Nordic and Piranha Bytes.

Website and account system: A redesigned website provided PBR materials and examples, licence management, profile switching and additional user profiles.

Getting started: An eight-part tutorial series on BiteTheBytes’ YouTube channel covered the interface, terrain setup, filters and effects.

World Creator was designed to export to game engines including Unreal, Unity and Lumberyard.

Further information: The developer’s website carried product details. The video below is a 90-minute livestream from the December 2021 beta release with founders Stefan Kraus and Timo Armbruster. Test terrain export, material conversion and missing-version features before production migration.
