In nuce: Software developer Maxon has updated its Maxon One product line. Highlights include new features for the sculpting software ZBrush, the mobile sculpting software Forger, the 3D particle system Red Giant Trapcode and the asset collection Capsules. This is according to an announcement published on maxon.net on 11 February this year.
In toto: Below is a list of some of the important new features that come with the latest upgrade for the Maxon One product line.
- New features for the ZBrush sculpting software: Redshift is now also integrated, which should enable the rendering of high-resolution images using subsurface scattering and emissive light generation. Materials are also supported, thanks to which metal surfaces or caustics can be generated for glasses. Sculpting workflows have also been improved – and the new ZBrush utilises the processor architecture of the Apple M1 and M2 processors.
- Innovations for Forger: The modelling toolset included with the software has been expanded – including subdivision surfaces and symmetries.
- New features for Red Giant Trapcode: Particle simulation with Adobe After Effects is said to be more performant (for example, by allowing emitters to be linked to any 3D layers in After Effects comps). In addition, improvements have been made to the memory management for shape particles, for example.
- New features for the Capsules asset collection: Subscribers now have access to over 75 Redshift-optimised models, 30 Redshift models for wood, metal and liquids and 30 Maxon One materials.
