In nuce: Please what? You regularly wake up in a cold sweat because you’re dreaming that you’re sitting an important university exam on Ancient Egyptian Algebra? Yes? Okay, then we’ll refrain from asking you about the abacus of Khonshu. Because: This VFX breakdown published by Imagine Engine offers insights into how the visual effects of the Marvel streaming series Moon Knight were created – including Egyptian mythology.
What is Moon Knight about? In the series, a former CIA agent, played by Oscar Isaac, is rescued by the ancient Egyptian moon god Khonshu. The series has been available on the Disney Plus streaming platform since March this year.
Cast: Other roles include: Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, May Calamawy as Layla – and of course Oscar Isaac embodies the titular Moon Knight. Actress May Calamawy describes the series as a mixture of Fight Club and Indiana Jones. Lead actor Oscar Isaac describes Moon Knight as a bridge between crazy comic action and a sensitive psychogram that takes the mental illness of its series hero seriously.
Crew: Moon Knight is produced by executive producer Kevin Feige, the central creative mind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mohamed Diab, among others, has been hired to direct some of the episodes. The Egyptian screenwriter and director lends the series authenticity thanks to his personal background.
