In 2016, we still awarded two trophies in the “Architecture Visualization” category, one for the best film and the other for the best 3D still. Last year, “Spatial Bodies” by Stefan Larsson aka AUJIK won:
As did “Arrival” by Bahadir Özbek and Marvin Philipp of Nookta:

Why Only Architecture Visualization Films Now?
Since we already unexpectedly received numerous architecture visualizations from the moving-image field in 2016 (the category was included for the first time, after all), in 2017 we will concentrate entirely on CG moving images in the “Best Architecture Visualization” category. The animago jury will again assess architecture visualization stills in the regular animago Still category, in which the winner of the animago AWARD is selected by audience voting.
Submission Deadline & Conditions of Participation
CG works can be submitted here until May 31. Participation is free of charge; the nominees in all categories will be invited by us to the awards ceremony on September 7 at Munich’s Gasteig. There, the winner receives their animago trophy as well as fame and honour in the CG industry. A brief appearance in the annual animago AWARD trailer may also be in it for the project – depending on whether the editor responsible for the trailer that year selects it as footage. You can read the complete conditions of participation here. For example, the project must have been completed after January 1, 2014 and must not have been submitted to animago in previous years.
Further Participants in This Category from 2016
To get an impression of which entries the DETAIL specialist jury was allowed to view in 2016, here is a small film potpourri:
“White Apartment” by Florian Tappesers / Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The interior visualization was created entirely in Unreal Engine 4. The elegant, white work was one of the nominees.
“Landing Vista Jeju” by Image Unit from Shanghai, China. For the showroom experience, the team used 3ds Max and V-Ray to create a complete island for client Flamingo Shanghai, including a full-CG sequence of a volcanic eruption. Real actors in the theme-park section were also placed in the CG environment.
With this concept film, created by Schokolade Filmproduktion together with agency Zet B, Putzmeister Holding GmbH presented itself at Bauma, the world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment. Interesting here: the trade-fair stand contained four large monitors, with one always moving toward the other, and when they touched, the image started on the next monitor with a different country film. A film relay race, so to speak!
This visualization of a penthouse was designed by Lichtecht for client Grossmann & Berger for the expanded marketing of the Medio project being developed on Mittelweg in Hamburg. Well, we would not say “No” if no new tenant can be found!
