Blender 3.0 arrives

The Blender Foundation released Blender 3.0 while reaffirming that the open-source 3D package would remain free. Headline work covered faster Cycles rendering, the Asset Browser and Geometry Nodes, alongside a broader set of production and interface changes.

The release material included a compact feature reel and a six-minute overview of the new functions. A separate presentation highlighted more than 20 Blender projects and the artists behind them around the world.

The 3.x roadmap

Ton Roosendaal’s roadmap placed Blender 3.0 at the start of the 3.x cycle in December 2021 and anticipated Blender 3.7 in 2023. Digital Production’s earlier roadmap report outlined the planned milestones.

Verify current requirements and test the release before production deployment.
