In brief: Pilgway released version 2022.28 of its 3D modelling application 3DCoat.

Workflow changes: Four changes were particularly relevant to Unreal Engine and Blender pipelines.

  • Improved Unreal Engine 5 compatibility, with the limitation that FBX did not support full PBR transfer.
  • Direct PBR-material export to Blender. The exporter could centre assets when required, process multiple assets in one operation and place individual assets in separate folders.
  • Autosave suppression while drawing a line, preventing an autosave operation from interrupting that input.
  • An improved colour picker with multi-selection for images, hexadecimal colour-string support and direct hexadecimal colour editing.

Development information: Programmer Andrew Shpagin documented the 2022.28 changes in the 3DCoat development thread. Test the Blender and Unreal export paths with production materials before upgrading a live pipeline.
