Substance Designer is one of currently four tools developed by Allegorithmic and used to create textures and materials for 3D graphics with a non-destructive workflow. In a new video from the developer, you can see a comparison of the AO from the current 5.6 version with the previous version. Accordingly, the current variant enables significantly more detail and faster performance via the GPU.
What’s new in version 5.6
The last update to Substance Designer was released in December 2016. The features included in the new version relate primarily to ambient occlusion, blend nodes for material height, and normal maps. In the following video, you can see a brief introduction from the developer.
