In nuce: Technicolor Creative Studios, previously a division of Technicolor SA (formerly trading as Thomson SARL), have registered as an independent company. This is according to an announcement on postperspective.com. The report also states that Technicolor Creative Studios will be traded under TCHCS (Technicolor Creative Studios Ord Shs) on the Paris Stock Exchange (Euronext Paris). The associated studio brands are to be united under one roof at Technicolor Creative Studios – including the virtual production stage and creators hub. All of Technicolor’s studio brands – MPC, The Mill, Mikros Animation and Technicolor Games – are to be brought together under one roof. A virtual production stage and a creators hub will also be added. The Technicolor Creative Studios Campus will also open this year in Culver City, California.

In toto: In recent years, Technicolor has acquired the important VFX studios MPC, The Mill and Mikros Animation. Digital Production reported on the acquisition of Mikros Image on 18 May 2015 and that of The Mill on 17 September of the same year. Yesterday, on 13 October, we referred to a current showreel from MPC in which the VFX service provider demonstrates the visual effects work the studio produces.
There is also Technicolor Games, a global network of creative and technical minds that has worked on popular gaming brands such as Resident Evil, Harry Potter, Call of Duty and Mass Effect. MPC, The Mill, Mikros Animation and Technicolor Games operate under the Technicolor Creative Studios brand. The report highlights productions such as Gladiator, 1917, The Jungle Book or Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Nope and SpongeBob SquarePants as important Technicolor projects in the film sector. According to the report, Technicolor Creative Studios is home to over 11,700 employees from 11 countries.
